Serendipity Terms & Conditions

These terms apply specifically to the use of the Serendipity feature ("Serendipity") offered by Leora ("we", "us", "our").

By activating, accessing, or purchasing Serendipity, you agree to be bound by these terms, in addition to our main Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

You must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Hold a valid, verified Leora account
  • Have completed any required identity verification checks

We reserve the right to restrict access to Serendipity at our discretion.

2. Nature of the Feature

Serendipity is an opt-in, location-based feature that enables introductions between users who:

  • Are within a defined proximity (currently approximately 100 metres)
  • Meet each other's stated preferences, values, and alignment criteria
  • Want to meet users in person

Serendipity is disabled by default and must be actively switched on by the user.

3. User Control and Consent

  • You control when Serendipity is active and when you are visible to other users
  • You may enable or disable the feature at any time
  • You are under no obligation to accept any introduction

Where an introduction is offered:

  • You may review the other user's profile (where applicable)
  • You may accept or decline without explanation

In the current interaction model:

  • Certain users may receive introductions first and must provide consent before their profile is shared

4. Interaction and Usage Rules

By using Serendipity, you agree to:

  • Engage with other users in a respectful, lawful, and appropriate manner
  • Respect the decisions and boundaries of other users at all times
  • Cease interaction immediately where consent is withdrawn

You must not:

  • Harass, intimidate, threaten, or abuse any user
  • Engage in unwanted, persistent, or coercive contact
  • Use the feature for any unlawful, harmful, or exploitative purpose
  • Misrepresent your identity, intentions, or personal information
  • Attempt to circumvent the platform's safeguards or consent mechanisms

5. Meeting Arrangements

Where two users mutually accept an introduction:

  • Communication and meeting arrangements may take place within the platform
  • Users are responsible for deciding whether to meet and on what terms

You acknowledge that:

  • Any in-person meeting is undertaken at your own discretion and risk
  • You should take reasonable precautions, including meeting in public places

Leora does not supervise or control in-person meetings.

6. Feature Limitations

  • You may only engage with one Serendipity interaction at a time
  • Upon accepting an introduction, the feature may be temporarily unavailable for a defined period
  • Availability of matches is not guaranteed

We may modify, suspend, or withdraw the feature at any time.

7. Location Data and Safety Monitoring

By using Serendipity, you consent to:

  • The use of your real-time location data for proximity-based matching
  • The collection and processing of interaction data for safety, security, and service improvement purposes

This may include:

  • Logging of introductions and interactions
  • Time and location data associated with feature usage

All data is processed in accordance with the UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

8. Payments and Access

Serendipity may be:

  • Included within certain subscription tiers, or
  • Available as a paid, time-limited feature

All payments are subject to applicable terms and UK consumer protection laws.

9. Enforcement and Account Action

We reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or remove access to Serendipity
  • Restrict or terminate user accounts
  • Report behaviour to relevant authorities where required

This applies where there is a breach of:

  • These terms
  • Our broader Terms of Service
  • Applicable laws or regulations

10. Disclaimer of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Leora provides Serendipity as a facilitation service only

We do not guarantee:

  • The identity, intentions, or behaviour of any user
  • The outcome of any interaction or meeting

You are solely responsible for your interactions and decisions.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time.

Where required, we will notify users of material changes.

Continued use of Serendipity constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
